One of my favorite Christmas gifts from DH was an umbrella. My very own, non-broken umbrella! I also liked getting gloves with iPhone-friendly fingertips. One year DH got me a new stainless colander. Not really my favorite. That’s the problem with practical gifts. They can be hit or miss.

High quality wool socks. Extra heavy but light scented hand moisturizer. (Know lots of people would hate these gifts, but I love them!)

That said, I'm not a fan of useful gifts. I love gifts that are unexpected luxuries -- doesn't matter if they're small ones. I'd rather have one delicious chocolate bar than a Roomba (what my BIL gave my sister last year -- it was not a pretty scene).
A rice cooker - one more small appliance that I'd donate as soon as I got it because I don't want to store it. The few times I make rice, I make it in a pot that I use for 1,000 other things.

I use to have a microwavable neck wrap. It was so nice for tight muscles, but DH ruined it by catching it on fire (he figured if 5 minutes in the microwave was good, 10 minutes must be better). I would love to get that again.
Some of them are also "aromatherapy". Don't get one of those. Too smelly.
