Your doctor discusses everything in the room with yourself and whomever your support person is with you if you choose to bring them into the exam room. As others have said if you have ultrasound appointments and doctors appointment which are separate. If you're not comfortable I suggest not bringing your husband into the exam room or mentioning to your doctor the specific areas you would like to privately discuss without your husband (whether that's diet, weight, vitals, etc.).
And for those of you that are shocked a person is allowed with you to the appointments, apparently you are either 1) not pregnant or 2) live under a rock. Majority of the hospitals have changed the policy of only allowing the pregnant individual into the appointments. I am currently 6 months pregnant and have been having appointments at one of the main hospitals here. Since July my husband has come with me to all the appointments.
You must feel so special. Thankfully, my practice doesn't allow anyone other than the patient at appointments. If cancer patients have to go it alone, so can a pregnant woman.

I'm not sure this is fair to say. I'm pregnant, I go to Bloom OBGYN (a very reputable practice) and they do not allow partners at appointments. Delivery is different, but not routine OB appts. I can't imagine they are the only practice with this protocol, particularly given the surges we are experiencing and will continue to experience.

No. My doctor never brings up my weight. My BMI puts me at obese now that I'm pregnant, but I don't look obese at all. I've just always had a lot of muscle due to being active.My husband has never come to my appointments and I prefer it that way. He was at my labor for our first child and he was a hindrance more than a help. I'll be glad to go it alone the second time around.

My husband hasn’t been allowed to come to appointments during this pregnancy because of COVID. But during my last pregnancy, they did my weight with him in the room. It was never an issue I discussed with my doctor and she never brought it up so there was no discussion.

Some of you are surprised that partners are allowed at appointments due to covid precautions. My husband has come to almost all my appointments, and I’m due in a few weeks. I’m in Fairfax VA though - will be delivering at Fair Oaks hospital. I’ve seen lots of men there with their partners.

My OB never discussed my weight. I started overweight and gained the high end of the recommended amount for an underweight woman. It was all slow and steady though, so I guess it wasn’t concerning. I was always nervous about the weight talk but it just never happened.
I did check the thread date a few times to see if someone had revived an old thread. No OB I’ve heard of on here allows partners for any of the exams. I just had my baby and my husband only made it to my very first sonogram before they limited partners. Then it was nothing until delivery.

If you really don't want to discuss it in front of him, perhaps you can ask the doctor ahead of time to discuss that on a separate phone call with you. Out of curiosity, which practice is allowing spouses/partners?

Your DH is allowed in the room right now? Mine isn't even allowed in the waiting room or even the building the practice is in.
When I checked in to give birth with my first, my weight (starting and finish) was openly discussed in front of DH. I had certain complications. My weight wasn't some big secret from my DH though. (started at 120, ended at 145).

Hmm. I never thought about this (I'm not shy about my weight, 176 if anyone cares), but in fact, my husband was not there for weight ins. This was with the WHC midwives. They would call me back for weigh in and blood pressure, which was in a tiny room (so no husband), then my husband would come back to the exam room with me, which is where the bulk of the visit took place.
