I live in Bethesda, and like it, but I would not say it's the nicest suburb. While downtown Bethesda is much more of a destination than it was when I was growing up, it still isn't really a traditional town center.

Yes, they are different. Glencoe is right on the lake, Glenview is inland. It is VERY nice, but mostly post war housing and not notably charming/beautiful like Glencoe imo. Glencoe shares a high school with Winnetka and Wilmette so I tend to group those three together in my mind. And Kenilworth. And Northfield goes to New Trier too for that matter, and is also very nice, but it’s a notch below the others in terms of visual beauty and charm. IMO, again.
