Explain this to me? Emory is ranked higher on Usnews and Times.
Exactly if Emory isn't prestigious then they all aren't. Both Emory and Georgetown are Cornell level prestigious, while BC is just a good school.
While I agree Emory and Gtown are more prestigious than BC, I'm sorry but none of these schools are "Cornell-level" prestigious.
Georgetown and Cornell are very similar in profile and have a high number of cross-admits, actually.
Georgetown (let alone Emory) is not more prestigious than Cornell.
Not sure what "let alone" in this context means, but I suggested they were "just as" not "more than" so I agree with you. With a ranking of 18, 21 and 23 respectively; they are peer schools for undergrad.

Why is there always so much hate for Emory on this board? It’s like chronic and personal in a way you don’t seem to find with other schools. Any theories?
Southern school in an "urban" city brings out the trolls. Most of DC'ers children went to UVA, Umich, Tufts and UMD. Objectively worse schools so they're probably just jealous.
Do you know what "objectively" means?

Anonymous wrote:I have never understood what people mean by "prestige" on here. As best I can tell, it means "can I impress people at a cocktail party?" because it seldom has anything to do with quality. To the extant that anyone cares about measurable metrics,
ACT 25- 75
BC- 31- 34
GU- 31-35
Emory- 31-34
These kids are academically indistinguishable. Each school has different strengths and weaknesses in terms of programs, but I don't see how anyone could consider one to be more "prestigious".

Georgetown is the tier below Ivies/might as well be ivies and Emory is the tier below that. BC is below either by a lot
Now, that's funny...![]()
