This is nuts. Don't put your face in the face of a sleeping dog. This is not "rage." No reputable vet would put this puppy to sleep. OP, if you even consider something like this, you do not deserve a dog, ever. Rehome if you choose, but the puppy was not to blame. You and your son were to blame.

Whoa. You need to calm down. This is OP. Did I ever mention putting the dog down? Don’t use someone else’s post to determine that I don’t deserve a dog. I would never consider that.

Also, he did not put his face in the dog’s face. He sat down beside the dog, pet him, and the dog jumped up and bit. You are really creating a story that did not happen.

Please explain how my son and I are to blame.

The dog was sleeping. The dog did what dogs do. Nothing wrong with the dog.

The dog was sleeping on the floor and the child was sitting down next to him.

It can’t be fixed or treated effectively. When this type of aggression happens with puppies there is no amount of behavioral modification/training that will fix him. BTDT. It’s bad breeding and he has a literal screw loose. They go from tail wagging happy to attack in a split second with no warning. If will happen again and next time it may be worse. It often gets worse as they get older. I am a dog lover and have owned many dogs. I do not say this lightly. Please listen to your vet and rehome him through a spaniel rescue or return him to the breeder. He is not safe to have around your children and please do not have any other children in your home until he is rehomed.

People who believe this nonsense don't deserve a dog. Get a fish.

I should have known I’d get flamed here. Be very thankful you’ve never experienced a dog like this. I am certain you don’t know me better than my vet of 25 years and the multiple trainers/behaviorist we tried. We tried everything including meds and it got worse. Maybe OP will have better luck but her own vet is concerned and she should know the reality if the dog has rage.

Are you kidding me? I love dogs but this sounds foolish and dangerous to me. You need to rehome. Find a good home without children. The dog will be happier. Kids will be sad but give them some time and get another dog.

Cockapoos are biters. I love dogs, but have a scar on my ankle from a cockapoo. The vast majority of dog bites come from smaller dogs (per my vet). I got stitches and never got close to the dog again. I’m sure your son will do the same.

No need to show us that you are a jerk. This is an anonymous forum and what will we do with this information anyways?
stop buying all these “ pop” mixes!! The inbreeding is out of control.

I do hope the child had medical care.
