In terms of quality, MR is among the upper tier of better designers/builders along with Griffin Head and others. Griffin Head is probably "S-tier" with their more custom architect-designed homes.

I'd say MR is overtaking BCN as the builder of choice at the moment, in terms of numbers of current projects.

I live in one and know 5-7 families that also have built or bought an MR home - universally, we and they've had great experiences throughout the entire process and in the years since.

Reading is tough - it wasn’t MR that had this requirement. It was Beaconcrest.

With the number of homes MR has built, it should be no surprise so many people have chimed in here.


Not surprised, we had a subpar experience with Beaconcrest. Their sales person was beyond difficult. It’s a wonder anyone gets past that point in the process.

+1. Built in 2020-2021 and the house has held up great. The build process was incredibly easy and organized (and basically on time! At the height of the pandemic!) and he and his team were very flexible with our requests as construction went on. Plus, unlike many builders, we could show up at the build site unannounced whenever we wanted. We didn’t need an appointment or be limited to when he was around - friends built with someone else and they could only visit the worksite twice.

The handful of times we’ve needed to reach out to the contractors in the years since the warranty expired, they all were incredibly kind, responsive and great to work with - the kinds of contractors you yourself would want to hire.

I really wish we bout with MR instead of Classic Cottages. CC def cut corners and were not great to work with after the house was built. They hire the kind of people you'd rather poke your eye out than work with on the warranty. our friends with MR homes are very happy like this PP.

I was generally impressed with M-R but the price point was high and the houses were much bigger than we wanted. We ended up building with another, lower level builder. The price is much cheaper, but you get what you pay for and the owner is just generally not a nice or professional person. It has been difficult with this builder, and they really cut corners in the quality of products they put in and in the amount of design and thought they put into the house.

Anyhow, from my limited experience I would recommend them if you can swallow the price tag. Check sales data to see if his houses have been selling for substantially less than asking, that should be the case in the past 6 months.

For what it’s worth, I also generally liked C-E Rivers. He mostly builds off existing houses leaving one wall up or something like that to take advantage of old zoning, rather than completely new builds. But he seemed like a good guy and seemed to do good work.

We built with them in 2021 and had a great experience, same as the ones above. Four years later, things have held up great and we're really happy with our decision. We have some friends in the neighborhood who also have MR homes, a little older than ours, and everyone has good things to say.
