Why on earth would she scare you and want you to come into the office for that? I’m so glad everything’s OK. But I would be pretty mad at that doctor.

This is 100% a possibility. Inconvenience the patient to get the revenue churn.

Sorry, OP. If it's a new doctor, you don't know what's normal for them either. I had to go in for a visit with the breast surgeon after having biopsies (which I already knew were benign). So I wasn't anxious about it, but when I got there, they made me remove my face shield so they could take my temp, and take off my gloves because of "cross contamination" risk. It was a waste of money AND added exposure that I didn't need.

What tests were sent? No way to know how concerned to until you know what the possibilities are as there isn't really "routine bloodwork" it is different at different practices. (My PCP pretty much does nothing besides lipid panel every few years, for example, and I"m 49.) I agree that this may be for a billable visit but that doesn't mean it is problematic. If a doctor is assessing a problem, perhaps doing some additional exam components, and making a plan for following up that is a level of care that does merit a visit you don't get to just add it all on to your preventive care visit. So really there is no cause to freak out at this point, just go and find out what they have to say.

My ex-PCP was like that. She would want me to come in for the most minor things.

Sheesh! Please tell me if I have low iron, low vitamin D, high sugar, terrible cholesterol, wonky thyroid panel - over phone. Then let me see a qualified cardiologist, rheumatologist, endocrinologist instead of someone like you.

I have basically gone to specialists and forsaken my PCP. The teledocs are able to help me when I need urgent care.

My doctor never puts results in the portal until after we've talked about them, unless it's a routine retest for something we've already discussed.

I've had thyroid issues for years, and they always just discuss the labwork over the phone and I see the stuff up on the portal right away. So this strikes me as odd. I'll know more in a few hours and update y'all.

Hope it is nothing. I think you need a new doc either way. This is not an ok way for them to treat you.
