Yes, DC. That does not count two personal days, holidays, reward days, time to
Volunteer (we get five volunteer days a year). We also do unlimited telework and flex.

Agree with this. My kids have been in day care this whole time. No cases. Small home day care. I only know two people who had to take off work to quarantine.

+1 we had 3 kids at home from March until July. It was horrible and I was a horrible mom and horrible employee. The minute daycare opened my kids were back and soooo much happier. If it closes again I will cry. This is a horrible situation that parents are being put in. We are bad parents, bad employees and extremely exhausted and overwhelmed. I had a full mental health breakdown before my kids went back to daycare. Went to therapy, on meds, etc. didn’t help that I was postpartum as well.

Shift work ( I am at work right now on a Sat). Taking vacation time for the times we would both be at work. Friends have helped out but only rarely.

Single (full time) parent with a now 4 year old. Lots of screen time. My preschool opened mid September and I feel like a much better person/parent. But definitely have PTSD. Our preschool center just sent a letter that they intend to stay open for now even though Montgomery county is advising privates to close. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

I feel like my coworkers were sympathetic the first month or so and then made me feel like I wasn't pulling my weight. They all have older kids. And friends were surprised I wasn't trying to date.

Single parent here. It's a nightmare.

Surviving through a mix of sick days, vacation days, working night shifts late into the night and being a crappy parent.

I’m happy your center has been open but I thought protocol was that the entire center had to be closed if someone was positive- like home daycare.

NP, but our center quarantines the affected class (and any siblings) only. The entire center doesn’t close down.
Classes do not intermingle for precisely this reason. We’ve had 3 cases in 6 months, no “outbreaks”.

Shifts, pto, leave without pay, tv for kids, lesser quality work being done. In a lot of office jobs people have become much more efficient too so they get more done in less time but also better triage and catch up on weekends. Its tough.

I’m happy your center has been open but I thought protocol was that the entire center had to be closed if someone was positive- like home daycare.

I suck at both my job and being a parent when daycare and/or school closes. My kids, 2.5 and 7, watch way too much TV and my boss gets annoyed. Fun times especially since DH is currently deployed and my parents only see the kids outside. It’s miserable me and two miserable kids.
