I have a question about marble runs! My kid would probably love that, but he has a history of putting things in his mouth (swallowed a coin 6 months ago) so I am super paranoid about marbles. When did you feel safe with the marbles?

Also, a follow up question - when did you move from Duplos to regular legos? I see there are basic lego boxes marked age 4+. I kinda think my 4yo would like that, but he is still enjoying his Duplos... again, I am paranoid about small parts because he is impulsive.

My 4yo has been playing with regular legos since she was maybe 3 1/2. She has an older sibling, which may have contributed to this. She loves to take apart her lego sets and put them back together - we have a lot of the 4+ sets. She also likes the Playmobil sets with small parts.

This, except substitute the 12" Disney dolls for Barbies (they are basically the same thing).

My 7 and 5 year olds love magnatiles. They also love legos.

Marble run is so so.

They also love these dog figurines by Melissa & Doug and play with them almost every day.

If your kids are into building, try collecting recycled materials and giving them to the kids with scissors, tape, glue. You might be amazed by what they come up with.

Mine had zero interest in magnatiles. Trains, skylanders, big boots.

I was also curious when the kids age out of magma tiles. Mine haven’t touched them in a while and they’re 5 and 7. I’m tempted to sell them bu DH says to hold off for a bit.

My 6 YO loves playing with tangrams, which makes me very happy because I used to (and still do) love playing with them too.

He also loves to play with magnatiles, legos, and other things he can build with. He like the plus things but I hate them because they end up everywhere in my house for some reason.

So much so that we just bought a new $100 set with wheels, stairs, windows, in addition to the 2 traditional sets that she and her older sibling have had for five years.

I like to play with magnatiles. I am 45.

Seriously. I’m 34 and like playing with my 4 year old’s magnatiles, legos, train set ...

I’ll try to answer a couple of the questions:

My daughter turned 4 in October and is doing great with regular Legos. She has a couple of the city sets and one Star Wars one. Even though she really doesn’t know Star Wars, she likes it (it’s an X-wing and has Luke, R2D2, and Stormtrooper figurines).

The marble run set we have is called Marble Genius Marble Run Super Set. I haven’t seen her put any of it in her mouth, but she plays with it supervised.
