I used to be part of a mommy Mormon online support group (though not a mormon I had a close friend who invited me).

The answer to basically any question related to emotions was to get a script for anti-depressants or to change the dosage up. I wish I was kidding.

I don’t know how you could possibly know this. Rachel’s new house is probably like 3-4 million. Plus who knows how much cash she has stashed away. I would guess 10 million at least. That may not be rich to you but for most people, yes that is very rich esp considering she is not even 30.

Have family in SLC and can +1 this. Mental health issues are seen as a moral failing or a problem for "other people" that you can pity and then feel good about yourself for being so empathetic in LOTS of these circles (not all of course)

There is a reason why Utah has off the charts opioid issues related to a HUGE number of scripts written in that state.

It's largely fiction. I have always loved the Mormon mommy bloggers (showing my age!) and now the influencers for pure entertainment value, but don't delude yourself into mistaking this for reality. Read the exmormon subreddits if you want to balance the sparkle. If the influencers are making you feel bad, stop reading.

I follow a bunch of big-family Catholic moms on instagram. Everyone has so many clothes, nice clothes. And so many different pairs of shoes and coats and outfits for every holiday. And this is for people who have a few thousand followers, so I don't think they are getting tons of stuff for free.

It's aspirational posturing. Mormons definitely have strong family ties, which speak to a universal desire for connection, but the coordinated houses and sponsored clothes and camera filters aren't the reality you're yearning for. These people are the Kardashians with a different aesthetic. That's all.

You are falling for the illusion they are spending (and earning) tons of money to project. I would suggest you invest in building yourself up and learning your own value--your life is no less worthy than influencers.

Yes, the tight-knit family seems envious. But Momma Skalla is as bad as Kris Kardashian; she's super toxic to the point of being cruel to the girls when it comes to appearances and their public personas. They know very little of the world outside of their perordanied life.

It's all smoke and mirrors. There are entire sections of their homes that are never photographed or revealed. The Rachel wannabe who bought Rachel's previous home exposed so much of this. I'm going to get the sequence wrong, but in Rachel's old home there was an entire wing that was basically a separate apartment and Rachel and family lived there while they rented out the main house or after they sold it or something like that (again the timeline is vague to me.) We never saw any of that.

The kids have real, ugly toys in playrooms we never see.

The big formal room in Rachel's home where they take photoshoots for her collection and where they held Ford's blessing sits empty the rest of the time. There are lots of unfurnished, unused spaces in their houses.

As for the kitchens, the hot design thing in their homes is to basically have a second prep kitchen to the side where the actual used stuff is stored.
