Wow. You must live in a lily-white district. I live in New Mexico. Every other little girl is named Maria (or Mariah).

Pretty sure half of the US has Maria as middle name too.

Is it still too early for Winona? Are W names a thing?

She’s naming a baby though, not a tree

Maria.

The other two are bad, and in a different category. Don't do that to your kid.

Maria is beautiful and classic. She can distinguish herself via her charm, intelligence, achievements, etc. To me, the other names sound as if they come from parents with low expectations, who don't expect that their child will have any other way to distinguish herself.

None of these names are similar to each other. I'm guessing you and husband have very different taste. Had the same issue naming my DD and we went with the 3rd choice we were neutral on. And we now both with we named her something else since neither of came to love that toss up name.

Maria. What about Willa? Willow and Alyssa are awful.

These are all such different names. I'm with the posters saying that "Alyssa" (particularly that spelling) comes across as tacky and cheesy. There are so many beautiful names that begin and end in A. Might be worth going through that list again.

Willow is almost pretty but I put it in the "trying too hard" category and will ensure people make assumptions about you and her based on her name for pretty much the rest of her life. Maria is a classic. Is it a family name? If not, it's just an odd one to give a baby these days but at least it will always be a good, strong name.

If you're super attached to the sound of Alyssa, maybe combine and go with Marissa?

Maria Alissa

The trend of changing name spellings to make it more fun, cool or trendy is annoying. Don’t add extra Ys or Xs where they don’t belong.

I also like Willow. It’s funny but your name finalists are very different styles. Please update with what you choose when the time comes!

I like Willow. I don't see it as a stripper name, more of a nature name. We have a neighbor with a preschooler named Willow. Parents are, if anything, educated hipsters.
