Yes, we are. Mainly because my daughter is currently in Algebra 2 and needs to finish the class before attempting an SAT.

In a normal year, I’d say that’s a completely rational approach. If you believe CoViD vaccine will be out by April to everyone there is no reason to stress out about it.

However my DD took Dec 2019 and had all administrations between Jan- Aug cancelled. It’s really hard to figure out your college list without test scores. An 1100,1300, 1500 will have different target, safety and reach schools.

From what I gather from College Confidential the kids that are getting in earliest by in large have test scores. Though the colleges are saying not having a test won’t hurt, I’m not sure I believe it. If you kid is in the middle 50th of accepted students- it can only help your child’s app IMHO. Please realize test optional does not mean test blind.

They are most likely high performing juniors or low performing seniors. There probably won’t be many seniors testing this year since almost every school is test optional. The high stats senior kids that need the tests are going to have already taken them by in large since EA/ED dates are usually between Nov 1st and Dec 15th. Most are Nov.

Mine took a couple of practice tests between Thanksgiving and Christmas and went up 100 points. She also studied all the practice tests over the summer not hard just she did them with friends virtually and went up another 100 points. No prep courses other than a bit of Khan.

since pretty much everything in maryland has been cancelled, our dc (junior) took the august and november sats in virginia. you might have to drive but there will likely be schools in va still offering if it’s important to your kid to take the test.

Our juniors didn't even get to take the PSAT. I don't know of any who took the SAT yet.

Where. FCPS administered the PSAT in all its high schools.

True. But for this years juniors, who will end up doing more than 1/4 of 10th and possibly most or all of 11th online, solid SAT/ACT scores sure don’t hire. “Doesn’t require” is different than “won’t consider”.

We gave up trying to get a test date, bc the CB kept cancelling, but also so many good schools no longer require it.
