OP here - for others - one thing we’ve been enjoying this month is an outdoor movie projector. We actually didn’t purchase it & I don’t know how much it costs if you buy it. We are using something my husband had from work trade shows but it hooks up to a computer and there’s a screen and now we are using it for outdoor movies.

My kid has become a big fan of all things cozy. Nice fuzzy slippers, a big bathrobe, blankets, hot tea, nice bath stuff.

Sleeping Queens is a good one, or possibly The Ladybug Game.

I found a Classic lego set with 1500 pieces on walmart.com for 30 bucks so I got that.
Maybe the Dogman books they don't already have.
The sticker by number books have been a hit- we like the Melissa and Doug ones and the Paint by Sticker books.
Any suggestions for uncomplicated board games that a 5 year old and a 7 year old can play together- they like Monopoly Junior and Chutes and Ladders (the retro version is the best). They just broke their Battleship game...

Our kids (between 4 & 9) are getting a bunch of new-to-them accessories for our old Wii. Electronics, but to keep them somewhat moving indoors.
And a lot of building toys, because that's all 2 out of my 3 kids do.

For my almost 4 year old we are getting this tree building set that should work really well with her daniel tiger figures and paw patrol figures:

Laser tag sets are great -- we have one and my kids (tweens and teens) definitely blow off some steam running around with them. Magnatiles are a perennial favorite for all ages -- there is something satisfying about them.
My kids mostly just want electronics but I'm also trying to think of other alternatives.

For Divali, lots of handmade crafting and decorating. We are making cookies too. So lots of experiences and quality time “gifts.”
For Xmas, letting kids pick their own gifts and we’ll wrap them.
