This. My spouse has a work-issued gun (securely stored) and we don’t talk about it. Most people don’t realize she has a gun for her job. If asked, I would tell very close friends whom we trust, but not many more.

Maybe not but kids find their parents guns all the time. And kids get into safes too. You think it’s be impossible, and maybe it would for a 3 year old, but a curious or bored 9 year old could do anything.
Isn't that the point though? You have no idea whose households have guns, so if this is a concern for you, either only host playdates, do them outside or teach your children what gun safety you can (don't touch, leave the room, tell a grownup) and hope for the best.
