Yes that is also the club that has 13 year olds play down in U10 games.

Where would one go get a birth certificate for the 13 yo? How much does it cost? My DS would love to rack up so goals against 9 year olds. thanks for the great idea!

In our tournament, the way the playoffs worked out, we played a team in team in the playoff qualifier only to then play them again in the finals of the playoffs. Same coach, supposedly same team, but we all noticed that the starters were not the same kids from the day before. Coach made zero substitutions. They beat us 5-1. These were not the kids that were playing in the tournament. They brought in 6 guest players just for the finals. this was U9. Disgusting.

Why is that disgusting?

Used to see 5 or more guest players playing down. Several levels down. The team that couldn’t win a game normally would end up winning the tourney. Easily. It was the “FCV” way. Nothing like DA caliber players competing in a just above rec league tourney.

It’d be okay in these cases but still needs to be communicated to the team and parents.

If this is not the case and team has a full roster then IMO it’s disrespectful action from the club. Worst scenario would be when families invest big in a trip to get there and find that guest players are given more time than any player in the official roster. A serious league should not allow this kind of behavior but the coach or club.

Player cards should cut down on it- no club will let kids play in tournaments for another club unless it's a showcasing issue. On smaller teams it's just the way things work. If you have 20 girls for U12, you don't have enough for two teams but you have too many for one. A lot of clubs are no cut, so you may get 8 on one team and 12 on another with kids guesting both from the 12 member team and from younger teams

I bet most of the time the guest player(s) doesn’t make any difference.

Yep. They know what they're doing. It's about recruiting $ometimes more so than wins. If you don't like it, there's other clubs that will treat you better. It sucks but it's what's best for the team in the long run from their perspective. Unfortunately , feelings are hurt and that sucks .

This is the most clueless thread I've read in a long time.

Thanks for the laughs during these "uncertain times"

I actually think it's a great practice. You are allowed to card with 2 teams, 1 primary, 1 secondary.

My son would play with his secondary team and it was good for those players to have somebody show them how to move the game faster. It helps the kids get better.

It's also normal for tournaments to have 1 really good team play in tournaments to let the local teams see if they can "hang".

You can get fake player cards from China for less than $10 each if you buy in bulk. Let me know if you need some.

It's not all that common - but it does happen. My DS charges $100 a game to do this and probably makes about $500 a year out of it.

Meh, that's nothing. My DS is going to guest on two opposing teams at Bethesda and double his money.
