There was no real consultation of parents and teachers to come up with a plan that would fit the majority of the DCPS population (a survey is not a way of getting community input and addressing concerns). Schools have been informed about plans week by week. They should have been part of the plan, not the receivers of the plan. The plan should give solutions to all kids, specially those with SN. There are also huge differences in the infrastructure and staffing between city schools, a fit-all solution is probably not the best in this situation. Careful analysis and lots of community input is a must.

Teacher, I've got your back!

DCPS Parent here. Me too. +100

And I've texted my kids' teachers and told them that directly.

That's nice. My taxes go to plenty of things I don't like or agree with, but of course, as adults, we know that doesn't mean we are getting one penny back, because that's not how taxes work.

There is no try again. They tried hybrid. They tried one class per grade per school. Teachers have made their position clear.

You actually fell for that???

Op here. I trust her with my kids education, why wouldn't I trust her on this. And by the way, I'm also sending my kids to in-person daycare and I fully support going back to in-person. It is not contradictory. A proper consultation would have solved many of the problems with the current plan.

They were consulted. They have a union that was actively negotiating (and prepared to sabotage everything). The "teachers weren't consulted" line is absolutely nonsense.

This right here. WTU has to be willing to come to the table.

And they will also refuse summer school, I bet.

I’d hire my teacher for 100/he twice a week to come teach my kids...despite the fact that all the parents are in here today being complete shitheads and actually saying they hate us and think we should be fired.

Fixed it for you

jokes on you, i do hate you and think you should be fired.

Don’t worry. I hate you too. And your kid will most likely hate you too.

Oh yeah, we feel it. That's why a group of us at our school are getting together to start advocating against all of your stupid requests. You idiots didnt even bother to get the para union on your side.

Nope but we have the nurses and principals union. Have fun with the paras!
