I don't drive a car, I take the metro. I also haven't seen a single friend in person since the end of March. I also order my groceries online, I must admit I do go to Trader Joe's 1x a month though since they don't deliver.

I am the PP teacher - I am not understanding these comments about taking risks etc. I am ready. and willing to go back in person ASAP with a decent plan. I did not call out today. I understand those who did though.

Did you miss the entire point? Everyone thinks they deserve everything. Teachers wanting whatever they want is no different than you wanting whatever you want. There is nothing wrong with that. The problem is people who don't realize that everyone else has distinct needs and wishes.

We're not, and I'm glad that OP realizes this.

We design our governing systems to separate powers - by branches *and levels* of government. Government roles need to be carried out at the lowest level possible; mostly at the local level, some at the state level, and very few at the federal level.

OP has the opportunity to move, and live under a different local government.

However, I think that education can occur at the family level, with funding, by voucher, at the local level. There'd be no question about opening schools then, and each family would have the wherewithal to pursue their own educational needs.

I mean, I have to spend every other week at the office. Tons of people are back at work in person. If teachers aren't willing to do their jobs, they should quit or have their pay decreased significantly, or they should be made to go in. You can't do ES effectively online.

And why are PK teachers even being paid at all

OP here. I did not mean to imply that you don"t care about other students. I care about the other kids and society at large as well. But I will never put any of that before my family.
