What on earth? With the boy's DA going away and the MLS teams taking the kids who might be worth selling on or using for a USL team, the ECNL boys teams are certainly appropriate to play in State Cup. The likelihood that any ECNL kid is the next Griffin Yow is unlikely. Sure, there are a few Chris Pines out there, but let's be real. Boys ECNL is for young men who are very good at soccer and would like to play in College. That seems the right level for a State Cup level tournament.

We just report their actions. The actions speak for themselves.

Ecnl players are not permitted to play state cup because they are not carded to do so. ECNL players are carded via US Club soccer.

Only exception is for dual carded players...which there should be few of.

1. It's simple to apply for both cards for a player so they can play. Arlington and McLean both play their ECNL teams in state cup.

2. What has that got to do with Loudoun's behavior - making sure their own kids don't have a game this weekend so they can record a forfeit win?

No, just a club looking for some competition, which ECNL does not provide except for Richmond.

DA teams were not permitted to play in state cups. ECNL teams are permitted to play in state cups.

ECNL clubs who are not scared of the competition enter their teams in the state cup.

ECNL teams which want to pretend they are elite teams but know that if they actually played they would lose to non-ECNL teams - those ECNL teams don't play in the state cup.

I am so glad my DS left Loudoun when he did. He was on the top team so Loudoun wanted to keep him which is reasonable enough - but being Loudoun the way they went about it was to threaten us that if we left we would not be allowed back. I replied that was exactly why we were leaving. We've never looked back.

What made me chuckle though was that Loudoun contacted me - unsolicited - each of the two years after we left to offer my DS a roster spot.

When you see behavior like this - putting the interest fo the club before the kid - in my view you have to leave and find a club which behaves differently.

Why not? State cup used to be the top competition for clubs in VA. It stopped being so when ECNL (girls) and DA (boys) prevented their clubs from playing in it. Now DA has dissolved so I think it's a good thing for everyone if the best teams enter again.

Good luck to your kid in their state cup game tho, hope they have a performance they can be proud of.

OP. You're confusing me with someone else. The cmon comment was not mine. You may be responsible for all the messages defending Loudoun but there are multiple people on this thread who think their behavior is poor and unusual.
