You can flip the pedal over and loosen the clip just very slightly like the video above explains. I would just do it until you get used to clipping in and out and then retighten because you don't want the clips to be too loose or it will damage the pedal. It does take some getting used to. I tend put weight on my left leg and clip out first with the right and then clip out with the left. Ally Love apparently explains some tips and demonstrates in one of her classes--not sure which one, but if you google you could probably find out which class it is.

FYI-Peloton says not to do this. It also voids the warranty.

Me either! And I have used clip-in bike shoes for years on my read bike. I got the shoes in and just leave them on the pedals. (But I’m the only person who uses it. DH is a CrossFit fanatic. Yes! We are fun at parties.)

You need to loosen the mechanism in the pedal. I’m not sure why they install them this way.

I find it helps to press down on the brake (the resistance knob) when I unclip, too. Have fun with your Peloton! I love mine and am so, so happy with it.

Some of the cleats are defective. Got new bike and shoes. Clip would not stay in. P sent two more sets both the same.

Fortunately, got a set from old pair of shoes and they worked fine. Clip goes in and 'ping'.

Unfortunately, P knows about this and is still selling bikes with the shoes even through the shoes are not useable. CS ignores the problem but someone in the store acknowledged it.

It's much harder to clip out than you think it is. After you do it once, you'll understand how much effort it takes then you'll be fine You likely just aren't giving it enough oomph! On my right side, I can only get out my pushing my heel in towards the bike, then I step off and pull my left out as normal.

Yes, this was the secret for me, too. The pedals were installed extremely tight. Loosen the bolt a couple of turns.

If you leave your shoes clipped in all the time, take them off once in a while to check that the cleats are still tight.

You’re probably doing it right but just not hard enough. You have to really wrench your ankle. But you get used to it. Think of it like your sore butt - after a week or so you won’t notice.
