Partially, but there are also many jobs that his constituents do not want to do. The U.S. economy is based, in part, on new immigrant labor.
Oh, so basically you’re saying that Black people are just lazy, then?
How woke of you.![]()
+1 the casual racism is not surprising.
Well, it is not very woke of you to not acknowledge that whole sectors of the economy are not based on brown immigrant bodies - agriculture, meat packing, child-minding, elder care, etc. Your argument is that wages are stagnant and depressed by immigrant labor. Labor economists have looked at this proposition and have determined that immigrant labor is not supplanting AA labor in significant numbers (or white, non-college educated labor). There are certain jobs that AA and white people prefer not to do.
It’s a cheap thrill (and racist) to argue that Hispanics are stealing jobs from AA people - but there is no evidence that this is true in DC or otherwise.

No, there are many jobs that undocumented people will do for far less. Why would citizens and legal residents take less pay than they deserve? May as well use the safety net programs instead.
There is NOBODY on a DC construction site getting paid less than minimum wage. Nobody.
Fact of the matter is that the work is hard. Not everybody wants to do it.
B.S.
Hmmm a dangerous job where the risk of being injured is high. I wonder why an employer of construction workers would want workers who would not have any recourse if something goes wrong .

I agree, but we also need to get this dummy out.
This is racist as well as mean.
Racist? How, exactly? He is an educated AA man with abhorrent (and dumb) views. Just like educated white men who love Trump and believe COVID is a Chinese hoax and do not acknowledge climate change.
TW is racist. He needs to go. It is kind to think that he is just ignorant. He knows what he is doing.
