This is ridiculous. Surely MIL has Advil. Grow a spine and ask for some. But seriously, I can’t imagine being such a wimp. I once went to a dinner party an hour after I broke two ribs in a farm accident, because I’m not a flake.

Do you work? I assume you have requested FMLA until your wrist stops hurting.
It's not like you said you stumbled during the winery trip and fell on your wrist and ended up with a bad sprain and possible fracture. If you did, you should have said so. Although kinda sounds like your MIL had had a long day and really wanted to check out for the evening.
That's how I read it, too. MIL was happy to pack the stew "to go" but DH insisted on dining in.
What happened to your arm, OP? Did DH think it was no big deal or that you were malingering?

I do agree that OP needed to be assertive and say “Thank you, I need to go home” and if DH tried to railroad her, she should have gotten an UBER.
Because her DIL is married to her son, who wanted to stay. OP was not “unwell” enough to not stay for dinner, which was already prepared. She had somehow managed a full day of activities. It’s a sore arm, not the stomach flu. Take an analgesic, ask for a hot or cold pack, eat dinner That was already made, visit, and then go home. This is hardly an arduous undertaking.
