In FCPS you really need to hit 75th percentile or higher, but will need to find out if counselor will check the most rigorous box and where OP's child falls on the Naviance for that particular high school.

Not a match. UVA is a reach. The 75th percentile GPA for students who enrolled in fall of 2019 was a 4.47. And 75th percentile was a SAT of 1500. I know a lot of students with higher stats and even legacies with higher stats who did not get in. And, I suspect the demand for state universities will increase dramatically this admission year due to COVID. https://research.schev.edu/enrollment/B10_FreshmenProfile.asp

Proceed with caution as a CS applicant in today's ultra-competitive admissions landscape. My son, a recent TJ grad with a similar profile (although with a slightly higher GPA and SAT) and strong ECs faced numerous rejections and waitlists from schools that seemed to be matches on paper. Fortunately, he ended up with a few good choices and is happy where he landed, but it was an eye-opening process to be sure. As I'm sure you are aware, many CS programs (e.g. CMU, the UCs etc.) have significantly lower acceptance rates than the universities themselves. Go ahead and aim high, but make sure there are some true matches/borderline safeties in the mix. The three schools mentioned seem to fit the bill.

Maybe Northeastern. GTFO. Not sure what the deal is with these posters OP but your child should be aiming much higher.

I totally agree - these are fine schools but with your child’s profile his matches can be more competitive than these.
