Mid-March

Honestly, I’d dive my eye tooth to be packing a lunch right now.

I will gladly pack mine through high school.

Mine did too, and somehow I still grew up to be a relatively normal adult

My mom lovingly packed a (typically quite good and balanced enough) lunch every day K-12. I was very appreciative and turned out fine. In fact I am more into cooking and the like than my mom.

I will likely do the same.

My Dad made breakfast and packed lunch for me every morning until I graduated HS. He’s a morning person and my Mom isn’t, so he let her sleep in. She cooked dinner every night. I had responsibilities at home (mostly on weekends) and was expected to do well in academics and extracurriculars. I’m a fully functioning adult now and my friends all say I’m a great cook!

I still pack my high schoolers’ lunches (or did until they went virtual). I minded more when they were younger. Now I think about how soon they’ll be gone.

My kid is 8 and I still do it. She went thru a phase I first grade of doing it herself but it was short lived. I do it at the same time I am making dinner or my lunch for work the next day so I don’t have an additional clean up.

Mom shamed? Really? Are you sure she was shaming you?

I can see her thinking you were looking for feedback or complaining about stuff.

My kid started about first grade, like I did.
She was so proud of herself the first time she did it. I'll never forget the look on her little face.
She still gets surprises or notes from me the same way my mom did for me.

My mom packed my lunch through high school. I was fully capable - it was just something she did for me out of love. In fact, she was visiting my first day of my last year of college and packed bag lunches for my housemates and me. She had a terminal cancer diagnosis at the time and it’s a really sweet memory.

I don’t think my 4th and 6th grader will be packing their own lunches for awhile, though they help make dinner and handle their own lunches while DL.

I always packed my kids lunches. I enjoyed it. I just did it the night prior when we were all cleaning up the dinner table/dishes. Since my kids alwys helped with the dishes I would just ask them at the time what they wanted... It was usually just the leftovers from dinner.

My dad packed my lunches for me from when I was a kid until high school. He would occasionally leave little notes for me. Yes I could've done it myself but I appreciated him doing it for me. He was also the one who would come up to tell me I had a snow day. He wasn't the most affectionate person so this was how he showed love. So I see no reason to stop making lunches if the person making it wants to do it.

In kindergarten. We packed lunches for the week together and it's part of the evening routine to put things in our lunchboxes together.

I gave up in Kindergarten and my kid has eaten school lunch ever since.
