OP here. She doesn’t need it but she deserves it. I got really sick after the first month of us dating. I think most would have walked away but she has stayed by my side this entire time. I’m fine now was battling some health issues and she was always “ we will get through it”. It was “ you”, it was “ we”. I’ve had girlfriends in the past not handle it all well. She had blown off friends and canceled vacation trips to be with me when I was having a hard time. She deserves an amazing ring and an amazing proposal.

If she's someone who needs a $50k ring/proposal, you'll need at least 250 for the wedding.

I've always thought it was cute when there is a fake reason to be filming. That way you get it on video/cell phone. Can you do something like that? Will it be just the two of you NYE? Can you involve anyone else in the proposal set up?

Don’t do it. Marriage = Cheerios the rest of your life. Single = Variety flavors. Lemme know how marriage works out for ya...

Wow, only on DCUM would people not bat an eye at 50k, and suggest spending 20-30k instead. I’m afraid I cannot relate or imagine!

I would spend $20-30k on a nice ring, but your favorite dinner, and then spend the rest on a vacation when the pandemic is over.

This is helpful how? I don’t think OP cares about you getting proposed to in your bed.

Rent a boat and propose while you watch the fireworks from the water, assuming there are any. It will be cold but you can snuggle.

Agree that you should not spend that much on ring. Put it toward a house or a honeymoon.

$20k to set the stage? What's he going to do, propose from the back of a rented elephant?

You lost me at $50k.

Spend $30k on 2 carats ring, then the rest on setting the stage for proposal.

I would do take out from hour favorite restaurant. I would give with a classic round diamond. I would get 2 carats if you’re going with a solitaire band. I think you will be able to find a nice quality diamond for $20-30.

I would never propose on someone's birthday or a major holiday. If you end up divorced, it ruins the day.

DP but if I end up divorced I don't care if my ex-spouse's bday is ruined afterwards!
