Yeah, bitchy control freaks do this.

Umm no. You should have a say in what you wearing on YOUR body supposedly every single day for the rest of your life.

Focus on the beautiful stone, but find a band that will 'work better' with your wedding band. Not all great husbands have good taste in jewelry.

I was not into the ring my now husband got me. I don’t think you should say anything. I think it’s likely that you’ll learn to like it (since you like the diamond and the band will feel less flashy once you’ve worn it a while and the stones get a little dirty) or you just won’t wear it as much, since that’s just kind of the way things often go.

Why didn't you shop together for a ring?

OP, first, I like the idea of changing it out to go with your wedding rings. At that time, tell him that you didn't want to say anything, but the band is irritating your finger. And you realize that you have to say something because you can't wear it year after year!

If it's going to bother you for the rest of the marriage then change it now. My sister wanted a different/nicer ring and not only changed it but chipped in to get the exact ring she wanted. But she's a concrete/gifts/jewelry person.

My late H bought me a hideous ring and I suffered through until the wedding. I wore only the wedding band after that and we did do an anniversary ring at 5 years. He was SO proud of himself that I couldn’t tell him

OP here. The ring is beautiful but it’s just not my style. It’s a round stone, not sure on carat size but maybe 1-1.5, with a I think a pave band setting. The diamond itself is beautiful big I hate the band. I would have much rather preferred a solitary band. I’m not into that much jewelry or anything flashy.

I actually know two people who had their rings swapped out post proposal. I believe that one actually WAS in the shape of the heart. Both are still married 15-20 years later so maybe it’s okay if you can say it the right way?

Agree don’t do anything now. Not worth deflating his excitement. Wear it for the first five years, then find a ring you like for an anniversary present. That’s what I did. And BTW, I am back to wearing the original for sentimental reasons. The ring feels like a big deal now, but it’s so inconsequential in the scheme of things. Signed, Married 32 Years

My wife and I had her ring custom designed. On the ride home from picking it up she said she didn’t like it! Now 11 years later she loves it and still wears it frequently.

How bad are we talking? Is the stone ok and you could take it out and have it reset or is like, IDK, a yellow diamond?
