Let's discuss futsal. I am happy to hear that Gus is back. What are the other area programs worth researching. I here that Alexandria is good. Has anyone heard of Futsal America. My DD is u15 and has played before but never at a serious level.

Indoor v Outdoor sessions can be discussed

Not sure they can. Someone deleted some of the responses on this thread already. Friends of Gus I think. He’s a shady business man, but a knowledgeable futsal guy. You can do worse, for sure. Outdoor futsal is a great idea and a great use of an underutilized tennis court or b-ball court. Cold or warm weather. Just have your kids get out and play, either organized or pick up. Great way to sharpen their skills and good exercise.

^^Gus is forming teams with Great Falls. He is the best in the area currently. I’ve heard of one person coming back to the area that is really good. He’d be in the Manassas area. Sasha Fillippi (sp?) was in the Woodbridge area last year I think (Premier Futsal Academy). He is also very good.

I second this! New Futsal Coach is Kurt Gordon. Run and don’t look back.

What’s the issue with Kurt?

I’ve known Kurt for several years. His futsal coaches team as are not very sophisticated teams. I assume he is a better outdoor coach I wouldn’t know. I do know he is not where I would have an experienced futsal player train and play.
I’ve seen first hand and I’ll pass

Thank you. My daughter played the girls team last year. They seemed to have good foot skills on the court. We beat them but they weren’t bad. They even tied one of the good teams on the tournament.

Outdoor futsal in the winter?

I'm from PA and we used to shovel snow off the basketball courts in the Spring to play basketball. I don't see why the kids can't play futsal when it's cold. Imagine the kids playing hockey on frozen pond/lakes. They handle the cold.

It is reasonably clear however that the fatality rate is well below 1% - it could be as high as 0.6%, or it could be below 0.1%. My guess is that it's toward the lower end of that range - probably around 0.2%-0.3%, but no-one knows for sure.

So you are saying there are problems with the actual scientists numbers but you have better numbers?

No. I'm saying that the numbers allow for a range. I doubt you'll find scientists still arguing for anything outside that range - which is obviously much lower than the numbers that were front and center a few months ago.

Within that range I'm estimating (hence the words "My guess is") the actual fatality rate. I have reasons for my guess - but implicit in those reasons are some assumptions that would need to be scientifically tested to turn my estimate into something closer to proof. And I certainly could turn out to be wrong.

I'm also saying that anyone can be a scientist - there's no such thing as an "actual scientist" in the way that you seem to be implying. It's a way of thinking rather than a job title. There are plenty of people who work at universities, research institutes and in government who have the job title "scientist", but are not scientists. Equally there are scientists who do not hold such positions. Albert Einstein is perhaps the best known example of a man who revolutionized science while his job title was patent clerk.

Covid isnt real according to this thread

COVID is real. It’s killed almost 250,000 Americans, far short of the 2,000,000-6,000,000 scientific model prediction.
