My almost 6 year old does this too! His current project is mapping all the embassy locations on a DC street map from a list we printed him. Wanna start a geography club?

The posts about little ones are so sweet, but this is a real accomplishment.

Hey, congratulations to you and your family. Wishing all the best.

Thank you all. It’s been so, so hard, and I don’t have anyone to talk to about it.

Talk here, OP. THIS is the big stuff.

She started school a few weeks ago (we’re in Canada - so schools are open, and they start JK the year they turn 4. She won’t be 4 until the end of Dec.)

In any case, we thought she would really fight going to school, but she really loves it and wants to go back every day. She’s a little Teary at drop off still, and exhausted by the end of the day, but she’s *wanting* to go despite her obvious discomfort. We get photo updates, and it’s clear that while she’s not in the thick of things, she is playing with others and doing her best. I’m pretty proud of her.

Also, she’s the only kid in the pics who looks like she wears her mask all day. She likes being a “good friend” and keeps people safe.

She sounds like such a great kid! Good for her.

My 11 year old is doing virtual schooling with almost no input from me -- showing up at his classes, printing and submitting assignments, and paying attention. I'm so proud.

I'm so proud of how eager my preschooler is to learn. She asked me to teach her to read and is practicing every day. She decided she wants to learn to ride a bike, so even though she's TERRIFIED of even the smallest downward incline, she gets on her bike and goes down those "hills" freaking out then takes a breath and does it again. She also decided she wants to learn French, so she found a few old French baby books and is having my husband read them with her before bed. I have no idea where she got that internal drive from, but I wish I had a quarter of it!

Our kid's teacher said she is grateful to have our kid in her class because she is friends with all and loves to participate in a way that gets all of the other kids participating too.

My 6 year old is really good with transit maps - we have maps of all the major systems, like NYC, London, Paris, and kid's favorite "recess from DL" activity is to figure out how to get from point A to point B.

I love this! For my kid it was herbs. She could identify tons of herbs, many I’d never heard of, and knew their medicinal uses. It’s so fun to see kids develop unusual interests.

That is really cool. I love seeing this in kids too.

I’m gonna cheat and brag about my dog. He’s a greyhound who grew up at a racetrack. He’s only been a pet for 3 months. He learned several commands and mastered stairs very quickly, took almost no effort to house break, is fearless in unfamiliar circumstances, and super friendly to other dogs and people instead of being skittish. He’s gentle and sweet. He had never played with toys until this summer. Yesterday we gave him a complicated doggie puzzle and he’s worked on it several times. I’m crazy about him and he makes me feel motherly pride.
