Yeah, this thread is so weird. OP already knows she isn’t interested in a Peloton, yet wants others to tell her why they aren’t either?! And for what it’s worth, I’m not interested in a Peloton (or any stationary bike) but don’t need to discuss it.

It's for people who need the cachet of the bike, or the feel of competition with other people, or the sense of community. Not to be insulting about it -- it's just that some people can't do the work without one of these (or other) things. That' s just who and where they are.

I don't need any of that, so there is absolutely no reason for me to waste the money on it. I get the fitness and mental health benefits without it.

Becasuse I don't have 2K and more to spend on a bike and classes.

I almost bought one, but then I remembered that I’ve never like spin classes very much. I got an actual bike instead and have been riding on the trail near my house 3 times a week. Wish I had done this years ago.

I do have the peloton app that I enjoy and use with their guided runs, but have no desire to purchase their bike, treadmill nor whatever monthly programming they have on top of that. I’ve never enjoyed spin, so that aspect doesn’t appeal to me. I also feel like the people who love peloton are very much smitten with social media in general, and if anything, I want to de intensify my social media presence! I also like DVD workouts in the event that my crappy internet isn’t cooperating, and I also find that the dvd workouts help me work out out in a more “systematic” way (I tend to choose peloton workouts based on their playlists rather than the workouts themselves).

I find the commercials unbelievably annoying. I can't imagine paying to listen to that.

Well, spinning is one of my least favorite exercises, so I'm definitely not interested in uber expensive spinning.

Bikes make my butt bones hurt (actually bruise) I’ve tried everything and have been professionally fitted. I haven’t tried the peloton though.

I don’t get it, but I have only done spinning a few times, years before Soul Cycle / Flywheel and I didn’t enjoy it. I am not a class person. I like to be alone, outside, no matter the weather.

It’s interesting to see how many people commented on the seated aspect of Peloton. When spinning first came out it was touted as a huge calorie burner but I didn’t see how given that you weren’t even bearing weight. I like to spin and in normal times do it a part of my weekly routine but think it can’t hold a candle to a full body cardio class.

+1 For the Bike + monthly membership you are paying more than $100 a month to exercise at home!!! And this is assuming that you will use it for at least 3 years. I have tried the app for yoga and strength classes and I just don’t like them.
