It’s a big gap but 15-20 years of a great relationship can be worth it. If the 55 year old is fit and eats healthy Then why not?

Ha, this is us. I'm 41 and he's 47. Sometimes he seems really 80s, lol, whereas I don't remember much of the 80s--our cultural references are pretty different. However, he looks young and is very athletic and we're a good match despite this, but the age gap is very apparent sometimes. I can't imagine a 20+ year age gap.

I’d be comfortable with that age gap for a friends-with-benefits type relationship, but not for anything serious. I’m not interested in being widowed 15-20 years before most of my peers.

I think it also depends on how little money you have, as well as how much he has.

10 years older or younger would be my absolute limit.

I think it depends on what you are looking for. If you want kids for example I would say yes.

I also think it depends on health. If he's in poor health now, it's not going to get any better.

I knew a couple like this. The guy broke it off after they were engaged and she had bought a wedding dress. I think actually he knew it would not work out - she wanted kids and he really did not (already had done that). They were good together in some ways. He was not wealthy, but had a very interesting fast paced job. She was in the same field. The woman later got married to a guy her own age and had kids. The guy also married a woman his own age.

29 years works just fine for the (second) wife of the owner of the Red Sox. Course he’s worth $2.8B. Shes 42, he’s 71.

Go into an independent living facility, not even assisted living, and see what your future in 15 years will be.

It passes the 1/2 your age plus 7 rule, so it must be fine.

This is definitely a consideration. Totally serious.

In my group of college girlfriends there was one who married a guy almost 20 years older when we were all shy of 30. It would have been one thing if he was hot, wealthy, or had an amazing personality. He had none of the three (was in fact overweight and not good looking) and we all wondered why a very attractive woman with a college degree would marry him.

Anyway, the point is that at 32 you are giving up certain things to be with a partner so much older. If you are independently wealthy and don't need $ that's one thing, but the two of you aren't going to have the same amount of years to build wealth.

For a father and daughter: no.

For a boyfriend and girlfriend: yes.
