Nothing was ripe in April. I went strawberry picking in May. Cherries in June. Blueberries and black raspberries and blackberries in July. Apples on Labor Day. Pumpkins this weekend.

We've used one probably half a dozen times in the last 2 months. We have also used some public restrooms. No Covid here. Our friends who have done similar have also not gotten Covid

Is it riskier than staying home? Sure. Wear a mask. You’ll likely be fine and have a nice time. I’ve been doing pick your own since May. It’s one of my favorite activities. I liken the porta potty to a plane toilet. Wearing a mask and limiting time in there is a good idea.

i have used them, wearing a mask. in my view it is less dangerous than a regular toilet atm.

You have zero idea what you are talking about. Yes they can test for minute pieces of Covid in wastewater.

No, it is not infectious. Too broken down to be transmitted.

I keep a Pottette travel potty in my car for the kids. I can hold it longer than they can so I just pee before we leave and hold it until we get home.

Porta potties See pretty gross on a good day but I wouldn’t give it a second thought if you really need to go. Wear a mask you’ll live.


You need to read up on how the virus is transmitted.

Please do not have your kids pee outside at a farm. This is a business and a food production location. It is not sanitary or respectful of the other customers. If you don’t want to use the available facilities and can’t hold it, then you need to find a way to contain your own waste and bring it home.

A 5 year old can still use the plastic potty training potties. You walk back to your car and pee, tie it up in empty it at home.

Without getting into the merits of the COVID-potty debate, we are at Great Country Farms in Virginia yesterday, and they have real, well-ventilated bathrooms. Maybe try that?

It's impossible to say with certainty what is safe and what isn't, but if you use a mask and sanitize, this isn't something I'd worry about personally.
