Sorry to break it to you, but you don't eat anything even resembling a healthy diet (generally or otherwise) if you "drink a lot of diet soda".

We have root beer floats for dessert about once a month, and we have a tradition of letting each family member choose whatever they want for dinner on their birthday or half birthday. Plus if we have what I’d consider a special family event like Easter or we did some thing for Father’s Day. I’d guess maybe twice a month?

Before covid it was more often because my kids would get invited to events where soda was served, but we’re staying home now.

Kids are 6 to 13.

They will drink a soda if we go out to a restaurant. We don't keep sodas at home.

We use to let our kids have it on days when there was no school or summer camp but then corona hit along with weight gain. We stopped buying it (an adjustment for DH and I, too), so they only have it if we order take out that comes with drinks. My advice is don't be too restrictive but don't have it always available either. Kids are 11 and 9.

7, 5, 2. None. And no intention to start, either.

7. She likes ginger beer and has like one a month. She also has a Shirley Temple once a year roughly. Oh and she had a root beer float once.

That is her soda experience.

10 and 7. Basically none. We have let them taste it before, but I can remember maybe one time where we let them have a whole serving and that was because we had no other options at the time. We don’t strictly forbid it or anything- they just don’t like it.

None. 9 and 6 yrs old. I have soda in the house bc I drink too much of it. They are not interested. My oldest hates any carbonated drinks. My youngest would prob drink it if it was an option. They don’t drink it at parties or other houses. However, they usually have juice boxes or little waters for kids. I’m sure that will change as everyone gets older though.

I let my 10 year old have a Pepsi or Coke whenever we order a pizza, so maybe once every couple of months.

5 and 7 year old. Never had it. I would never buy it so they won’t have any until older and at a friends house.

Never. My seven-year-old as never had soda and never asked for it.

We do not keep it in the house but they can order what they want a restaurants (about 1 time per week). They are teens. I assume they buy it themselves on occaision and do not mention it. Their school is walkable to 7/11 (when they went to school).
