We have 3100+ square feet with a 1/2 acre yard. I would like to upgrade to somewhere 5000 square feet and up. I want to not hear my children or my husband.

I’m sure one kid hardly needs any space. The problem is when you have more than one!

So often, people do for their kids what they wish they'd had as a kid. My mother did that - her bedroom growing up was all black, brown and greys and dark brown woods. So she made my bedroom all flowers and pink and wicker. I hated my room growing up. She still can't understand why.

So true! I grew up in a big house and don't really feel the need for one. DH grew up in fairly small houses and would like something bigger/fancier. He's surprised I don't want what I grew up with. To me, it's a balance between having the right "zones" yet not spreading out too much.

We have 2 kids, 7 & 11, in a 2-bed 1-bath condo. Sometimes we wish for one more bathroom, but we love being able to walk everywhere. In the pandemic, it's felt a bit cramped, but not enough for us to pack up and move.

We've got 2 kids in a 2 bedroom apartment that's about 850 as ft. No basement or attic for storage. Kids are 4 and 2. It's tight, but we're really happy here. We know families with older kids making it work, too, but I'm assuming we'll try to find a 3br when the kids are older, but not for another 6 years or so at least!

Oh and I feel pressure because housing market is insane and I teeter between being worried about the bubble bursting and being priced out of a 3 br/2 ba in the near in suburbs.

Wow these are do helpful thank you! So many people think we are insane and are pushing us to buy a house (but not offering us the $$ to do so!). I wouldn't cave to peer pressure but there is something to be said for takinf advice. Just sounds like we had one sodes advice.

On the other thread someone asked if we had to do preschool. Yes we will because grandparents are getting exhausted. They agreed to help for a few months and then a year but this can't go on. They are understandably tired.
