Stop taking your dog to a dog park. Why are you taking him there anyway? Clearly he is not socializing that well, and it is stresfull for him. My vet told me that she doesn't like anyone taking their dogs to dog parks, but especially if you see that your dog is not happy there. There are agressive dogs there and oblivous owners. Plus leash? In a dog park? You are taking away his ability to act like a dog, assert his dominance of submission and making him act anxious hence defensive, which is then showing as agression.

I am completely in control of my dog by always keeping a safe distance and using a leash. My dog has never been aggressive towards children or other adults--still, I ask that they refrain from touching my dog (never an issue).

The only instances where my dog has shown aggression have been when dogs who are unleashed with their owners approach my dog quickly and suddenly.

While we're on the subject of aggression, I really don't understand your aggression and assertion of irresponsibility towards me. My dog is not aggressive if leash laws are followed on public trails by others.

Unfortunately yes you are at fault. They can take you to small claims court. Depends on judge.

I totally feel your pain. My dog doesn't like other dogs. She's only 30 lbs but all muscle. I only walk her on a leash. I can not tell you how many times I have told people my dog doesn't want to play with theirs. They insist. And then they get huffy when my dog goes insane as they approach.

I have seen three dogs run over in the past year from crappy owners insisting their dog does not need a leash. Or the lady with the dog on her lap, stopped shot at a stop sign and dog right out the window run over by a car coming the other way.

Get one of the warning dog leashes either red for caution or orange for not good with other dogs. Be vocal.

You are in the right if your dog is leashes. It’s another story if ,for instance, a child approaches your leashes dog and it attacks the youngster.

Just tell the dog owner your dog will attack their dog. Then stop worrying and judging.

You know, I never had any luck telling the other dog owners that my dog was not friendly. They always seemed to think they knew better. My dog did wear a muzzle, but I still ended up having to kick a few dogs.

Get an air horn and blast it at dogs coming at you.
Get a spray bottle of vinegar and spray dogs coming at you.
