Hmmm. Seems like a troll post. My DC plays for an Arlington travel team and they have been playing full contact games for weeks now.

OP here. No, I'm not a troll. I'm coaching a regular team -- not a travel team. And for 3rd graders (and below), passing has been prohibited.

But I just learned that the league is changing the rule ... we will be able to pass at next week's practice. So, good news.

Yay! And kudos to the girls for hanging in there!

My 8yo ds LOVES looking up new juggling tricks and trick shots
On YouTube! Theres some 10 year old hotshot who its super popular. Give them a cool video to watch on YouTube the weekend before and Add a section of trick shots to practice ( juggle and then knocking the cone over). You can even do team contest one after the other as competition.

If they cant watch you can just practice during practice. My kids juggling has improved alot since he started watching these vids.

Good question. The official explanation I heard was . . . drum roll please . . . the travel kids learned to social distance a few weeks ago, so now the rec. kids have to learn how to do it too. I didn't say it would make sense.

I really thionk this is insulting to rec players and parents to say...travel players are abpove you and have to follow easier guidelines than the rec players because well...they are rec players and should be treated like infants.

No. It is saying that travel practices and games start weeks earlier than rec practices and games so the kids have been doing it for longer. I don't think that's a compelling rationale regardless, but it isn't saying that rec players should be treated like infants because travel players are above them.

Like what the hell. Travel are having tournaments, etc!

You gotta face reality instead of whining about feeling insulted. And the problem here is not that travel players are or aren't above rec players. It's that government thinks it is above citizens instead of the other way around.

Enforcing completely arbitrary rules has always been a valuable psychological tool of tyrants.

I assume this is rec.

Sure - but can't see why rules would be different.

I think this is standard. What OP is describing is not allowing the kids to KICK the ball from one to the other. That is nutso.
