No it's not, because I was the OP of that thread, but not this thread.

When I started that thread it was basically to ask parents wth they are thinking when they expect nannies to live alone, not take public transportation, not have a second job etc. when the parents only want to hire them part time and at a low wage.

This post is definitely along the same lines - I want a part time nanny but don’t want them going places/having other employment. I was to not pay legally or pay less and expect my nanny to live alone


The entitlement of parents is ridiculous.

Nanny is and always will be — if you can’t afford it sent your crotch goblins to daycare. Just because you spawned a child doesn’t mean everyone owes you the moon. Parents you are not special. Stop trying to keep up with the Jones when you clearly can’t afford canned tuna

You are being crazy. My gym is overcautiously with everything Covid related. Its way safer than a restaurant or babysitting for other kids! Everyone wears masks, everyone gets their temp checked, distance is maintained and the place is constantly being cleaned. Also, there is hardly anyone there.

This. But make sure that whatever you offer is high enough compared to what she was making with her regular hourly rate and the odd jobs.

This. Pay her 40 hours if you don't want her to work anywhere else.

She has a car payment. She has rent. She has insurance to pay. She has food to buy as well as utilities to pay for.

My daughter worked in mall last summer, did Instacart and Uber eats with her sister who works part time in child care.

You have no right to tell them what to do in off time.

This is why most are looking for full-time only hours, to limit exposure for everyone.

It really does suck. I have sympathy for both parents and nannies.
My employers don't know that I started driving for Uber Eats 15-20 hours a week. I'm part-time with them and so used to supplement with several one-time care dates a week before COVID but obviously that's not an option for a bit.
It's been 4+ months and I feel I've been super careful; masked at restaurants and at drop off, keep hand sanitizer and wipes that I regularly use, and drop off is always "leave at door" so no contact with the customers. In my personal life I haven't gone to eat at a restaurant, gym, salon, doctor or dentist office since March, and order my groceries so trying the best that I can to minimize other contact. Position concludes end of October so not stressing about it too much anymore.

Maybe nannies can only take on full time jobs now. No more part time. But what will the people do who need part time care? I cannot wait for this to be over.
