Married for 20 years to an attorney. They make excellent money in the DC area but the hours are long and often invade family times. But at the end of the day you marry a human not a profession.

Yup, I did. He's a great husband and great dad. Chill workload and hours, nothing like biglaw.

Big Law partner while interviewing a potential new secretary, "Are you prepared to assume an entry level position?"

Big Law? Required billable hours? No interest! But there are plenty of legal careers that are sane.

Now I'm just imagining the secretary saying "SU-STAINED!" approvingly after they're done.

At a kids party once I met a parent who was a single dad and an "accident" lawyer - one of those guys you call when you have whiplash and want to sue the bus company.

He was one of the most vulgar, unsophisticated, uninteresting, physically repugnant men I have ever met.

Would I date him? Not on your Nelly.

Nope. My friend's husband was literally taking work calls on a Sunday afternoon while his two year old was blowing out birthday cake candles. He spend the birthday son, cake eating, and gift opening in the back of the house on an "emergency call."
