Very close because we all lived close-ish and spent a lot of time at each other's homes. My aunts and uncles still reach out to wish me a happy birthday now and I am 50. We text and check in on each other.

Some holidays and big events. Not that close. Like it when I do see them though.

1. My cousin and I went to the same performing arts camp though we had different concentrations. He attended my dance recital there - just ducked out of work and watched and then left.
2. My brother's college graduation party - I was very sick and immobile (the following day I would wind up taken by ambulance to the ER) and my aunt who was attending the party sat on my bedroom floor for what seemed like 3 or 4 hours talking with me. She missed the whole party.
3. I have only ever drank water. At family dinners, my aunt would have all kinds of drinks all over the table, but put a big pitcher of water near my seat.

Little things can often times mean a lot. Glad you remember them.

Moms side - know all of them and their kids well. Spread out on the East coast, but growing up we were all together at leaet 2/3 times per year, Thanksgiving, Easter, and over the summer on a giant family camping trip. All the cousins running around, swimming, making giant bonfires - good times. All of us cousins have kids, ranging from 9-26, and while we don't get together often, they all know each other.

On my dads side, one crazy aunt with no kids. I know her, she knows me, but is bipolar, and lives on the west coast.

Didn't know my dads side (three aunts) because his family were jerks to my mum so she stayed away. Never saw them/never gave or received gifts.

One uncle on my mum's side. Never married and not very outgoing/not into kids/mostly worked so we saw him a few times a month and he was nice but no gifts/either way. He really stepped up and has provided financial and emotional support to us kids after our mum died.
