My DS's NNAT is also low. Will they weigh other data points more strongly such as iready? I wonder how this will work.
We already have a WISC scheduled this fall as part of an evaluation, which we could use. But that's not true for most families.
This will be a good year for them to make the switch to AAP admissions being based on equity instead of achievement.
With no tests except for the unstable nnat, fcpc can just place on teacher recommendation and equity formulas.

It is on the FCPS Intranet on the Actiongram for today. It's official. They are still doing a pool. There are detailed FAQs about how it will work and what they are still working out. The bottom line is that they would have to have CogAT taken in the Fall to have scores in time for the spring pool. The state requires an abilities test, so NNAT will be used. If the student has a 1st grade score, that will be used. If they do not have a 1st grade score, they will figure out how to give the NNAT in December. Screening portfolios will be digital.
I’m not waiting for FCPS to figure it out. I am scheduling a CogAt at GMU ASAP.

This works for us. DD must have slept well and ate breakfast cause she got 99 percentile. No way she would do that again.

18 or 19 years ago when I had no idea of the AAP program (GT at that time) a colleague mentioned how her friends kids were not able to get into GT. She was telling me how needlessly the kids lives were ruined (they were still in ES at that time) due to this and how they would not be able to get into good colleges.
Still cannot forget that conversation. It seemed strange that 7-8 year old kids lives can be ruined by something like that. Knowing a bit more now, I cannot get over the absurdity of it.

Don’t worry. They are not going to skip AAP placement for an entire year. Somebody literally made that up.
