We won’t go out house to house. We’ll invite the kids we’ve been playing with all along over for a party. Have a candy buffet set out. Let them play and watch Halloween movies.

Wait. I am confused. People are actually worried about trick or treating this year???? It's outside. You are around other people for like 10 seconds. Wear a mask. Done. JFC.

Since it's outdoors and everyone wears masks anyway, Halloween seems like the easiest thing to keep normal. I like PP's suggestion of using tongs to hand out candy. Pouring it from package to bowl and handing it out with tongs means no one but the receiving kid ever has to touch it.

Yes we will participate! We'll leave a bowl of candy on the steps (like last year lol) and go out tricker - treating with masks on.

We're putting up the decorations this weekend. We'll sit out on the steps and have a help yourself bucket. We're the full size candy bar house, so people expect it.

Same. I find Trick or Treating to be one of the easier things to do while still social distancing.

We'll do something smaller. Our neighborhood will hold an outside party and have lots of candy at that.

But we won't go door to door, except maybe to people we know.

This seems backwards to me.

Or not really, because I think either option is relatively low-risk, being basically outdoors. But I don't see how a party would be safer, especially with what we understand now about the risk of people breathing on you, sustained contact etc. vs the negligible risk of fomites (residual virus on "things.") Also, who are these "strangers?" Your neighbors, presumable, most of whom you'd be having this party with?

They don't care and its all about them.

You aren't quarantining be real. This is why we cannot go back to school. Stop pretending.

No interest in 30 families touching candy my kids put in their mouth. We will do movie night with games/candy with one other family that is doing social distancing at our level.

I plan on hanging out on the front porch to hand out candy. I'll be masked and gloved, and will use a scoop of tongs to transfer candy from our bowl to kids' bags. That seem safer than having all of the kids digging around in a common bowl.

For my kids - if they want to dress up and walk the neighborhood, we will. They'll have masks and gloves on, hopefully incorporated into the costume. Wash hands when they get home. Don't go into any homes (they never do anyway). Seems fairly low risk to me, no worse than me going to the grocery store.

I'm planning to take my kids out, but we will avoid the big crowded spots, like East Capitol Street. We'll find a quieter area.

I'm planning to set out a tray of candy on our front walk, close to the sidewalk. I'll wish everyone happy halloween. That way we can be socially distanced and my presence will prevent anyone from being tempted to empty the entire stash of candy into their bag.

Also, halloween is the perfect time to don a mask...I'm thinking ninja's, mummies, full face masks, hospital workers, etc. So many ways to incorporate a mask as part of the actual costume.

Wow, you and a lot of others in this thread really plan ahead. Good on ya!

I like the idea of throwing candy and outdoor lawn chairs.

In our neighborhood, we've agreed to put candy bowls at the bottom of driveways and sitting outside with lawn chairs.
