I think it’s late especially because you have 2 kids already that are much older. Why do you need another and why did you not thing about this 8 -6 years ago?

I have 3 kids and I love it, but I would not have had the third over 40.

That said, a good friend of mine had a her first at 46 and she is very happy. She also looks and acts 10 years younger.
In my kids’ private school there are plenty of moms in their 50s with elementary School age Kids...

I wouldn’t do it for a third, but I have seen happy older moms

I've been pregnant three times in my 40s, so I'd say no! The last two were miscarriages but I do not regret them nor have I given up hope. Hang in there OP!

I was 32 when I had my autistic son 1 who I wouldn’t want any other way- and was in perfect health, etc. but to you and the po commenting on chromosomal defects- I mean, yeah, op’s risk for those things are higher now. Everyone knows that. Some people just want children to love. They don’t have to be perfect.


Say that after her 5th miscarriage. You’re making an assumption she gets a take home baby out of it.

Huh. I was 32 when I had my autistic son 1 who I wouldn’t want any other way- and was in perfect health, etc. but to you and the po commenting on chromosomal defects- I mean, yeah, op’s risk for those things are higher now. Everyone knows that. Some people just want children to love. They don’t have to be perfect.

No concern re: your age and having a baby - just a note to say that most women's eggs are not high enough quality to make a baby after age 43. There are outliers, of course. Everbody's heard a story about so-and-so's grandmother who had babies at age 50..... But after age 43, it is very common that reproductive endocrinologists will recommend that a woman/couple looking to conceive use donor eggs due to the high risk of miscarriage or fetal chromosomal abnormalities.

It's not rude, it's reality. OP asked if it was too late, she didn't ask for sunshine and roses success stories. The miscarriage rate at 40-44 is 50% and at age 45+ it's 95%. The risk of chromosomal defects is somewhere around 1 in 20. That's science, OP should make decisions with her eyes open to the reality facing her.

My grandmother conceived my father when she was 45 years old. Back in the 1950's. Her oldest was 21 at the time!
It can sometimes happen without getting fertility doctors involved!

Op it’s not just about the pregnancy. Think long term. Like having a kid in K/1st grade when you are 50. Teens in your 60s. If you are ok with that, then that’s different.

Are you prepared for multiple miscarriages? Having to choose between terminating or parenting a child with a genetic disorder? It's not just a choice between getting pregnant or not getting pregnant, there are a lot of things that can go wrong even if you do conceive. I wouldn't risk it if I were you, but if you do, then I'd urge you to think through your stopping point before you're in the middle of the process.
