It's basically true, OP. We are observing basically the same cautions you are (plus we telework) and since we aren't doing the kind of hangouts you describe with friends, we definitely would not be up for this with strangers.

Same!

I have seen families post in our neighborhood listserve or social media pages about looking for other families in similar situations.

I am not in DC but I am the same as you except we both work from home, only online ordering and groceries, a few take outs, and empty parking lots or parks during the week. I wish i knew how to meet similar people and I would trust them because no one would admit to being so paranoid.

OP my friend is like you. Hasn’t left her house much since March. Yet, she has a 5 year old and 6 month old and is lonely. She keeps asking me if I know anyone for them to hang out with who follow the same guidelines.

I don’t. Because people have either loosened up, or if they haven’t they ARENT SEEING PEOPLE. Or they’re already in a “quaran-team”.

Off topic, but highly recommend the Arboretum in the morning. There were a dozen or so people crowded around the columns, but if you avoid those you can walk around without being near anyone.

Also Bluemont park. Not the trails, those are crowded, but the field is so big it's easy to carve out an area without being near anyone.

The Mall during the week is not bad!

OP, we are basically the same, except we both work from home and my husband has gone to the grocery store a few times (last time in June) and I went into an empty bagel shop once to pick up bagels (also in June). We would love to find similarly minded families for outdoor, masked and distanced play dates (bike rides, kicking a soccer ball, etc.). We have a 5 y.o. and a 1 y.o. and 3/4 of us are high risk. Our neighbors, with whom we normally get together regularly, are not really taking any of this very seriously and have been socializing with a number of families. We are in Dupont. Where are you?
