+1. It's because shes not use to it. My elementary kids have been in camp and preschool for 2 months so its 2nd nature to them now. My son has no problem scrimmaging in it..he has not done a game yet but he said he doesn't care about it..

It will take practice.

Suggest she try it once in a paper mask with it pulled down over her nose. if she is miserable and uncomfortable, and wants to sit out practices and home games, then let her. Its her choice. Personally I cannot exercise with a mask on.

I think training is something you need to worry about.

But for games, it is unlikely to have travel games in Moco. No visiting team want to play with mask on.


I briefly watched a boys game today. All the players were wearing masks but were not covering their noses. It’s really up to the referee to strictly enforce it but they didn’t.

My kid’s team has been practicing in masks in MoCo. Experiment until you find one she’s comfortable in. Kids do pull them down under their noses and no one calls them on it in my experience. Remind her that everyone else will be in the same position.

It’s all a bit silly. I think almost all the kids on my son’s team have done small group training outdoors all summer with no masks or distancing, but the clubs have no choice but to comply with the county rules.


As a hypothetical question, suppose the county made a rule telling everyone to jump off a cliff? How absurd does a rule have to get before you're allowed, or even have a duty not to follow it?

She says she is nervous she will pass out and embarrass herself. And that she won’t be able to play as well.

OP here - I totally agree with this. It all seems to be anxiety related (she says she is scared she will pass out and embarrass herself. I don’t want her to give into the anxiety. And in moco if they actually get a to have a high school season I can imagine they might make them wear masks. She would die if she could play for her high school. She lives for soccer.


Then don't give in to her anxiety. If she really wants to play, she will have to follow the rules. Tell her not to let her imagination prevent her from doing something she loves. Hand her a mask and a soccer ball and and sent her outside.

We have been scrimmage with mask a couple of times. I would say most of kids are smart enough not cover their nose and pull it down frequently for fresh air.

Also be sure to bring multiple masks. The mask become soaking wet after 30 minutes of practice.
