I think that's mostly what it is. Many families had their kids stay home because they anticipated that the campuses would have to close and they didn't want the safety hazards and upheaval. If the campuses are able to successfully stay open, their child stayed home while others went to campus, and their child may resent the decision.
There was one parent of a child at home who posted something positive, and they were right...they were hoping it was a success so that their child could join everyone for the spring semester. If the campuses had to close down, that was it for the school year. Why all college-kid families aren't rooting for all the campuses to be a success, so their kid can get back to campus too is beyond me.
