At 5 mine didn't want to ride in it anymore. If we're going far, he bikes or scooters. We do ALOT of biking now.

Kids are 5 and 3 and still use it for long walks or trips to the zoo/amusement park (not that we’re doing amusement parks right now). They also frequently both walk long distances but it’s nice to have the stroller along occasionally when we’ll be out a long time. I like having the stroller anyway to put all our stuff in.

I stopped when mine was about a year and a half. Pretty much as soon as he could walk places on his own. I see people around with kids that look way to old for the stroller so I think OP is in the majority of people who use the stroller til their kids are 4-6.

The older kid was in there until he outgrew the seat on the double stroller because it was easier and faster to keep them both contained. We basically stopped using any stroller already with the younger one before 3 because we were already going at a kid pace and he wanted to walk.

Yes, of course, I'm doing it for my convenience. Which is not something to disregard IMHO.

She's not into her scooter, but balance bike and walking we are doing as well.

We have a Veer wagon, so it's a little bit different, but serves the purpose of a stroller. I am still using it for 3.5 yo and 15 mo. We use it everyday to either go to the park, library, or sometimes just for me to take a walk at an adult pace and get a "break" and some exercise while they check out scenery or read a book or color in the cruiser or whatever. I think it's fine because they are up and playing and walking all the rest of the day, and we rarely drive anywhere so they aren't sitting in car seats a lot. Plus, I would rather have us get to playground efficiently and play there vs. taking 8 hrs to walk to the playground at a child's pace then having 2 minutes to play before we have to go back.

I have a kid who was trying to walk at ten months and by 16 months he was wailing in the stroller and we stopped using it. He now 2.5 and walks aka runs everywhere and loves it. My very expensive brand new uppababy is sad and I’m even sadder at having lost my quiet time of pushing a stroller.

This works for us, and I could see us doing it for at least another year, especially if she's going to be at home instead of in school for that long. I wouldn't even judge people letting a 5 or 6 year old ride in a stroller sometimes. I have no idea how long they've been out or why the kid is in the stroller. Yes. I was the one who had a hard time letting go of our stroller because now it meant I had to schlep all the stuff on my back! Got a new back pack, made the kids carry theirs too. But man I still miss it haha.



Same. We take the stroller to trails near our home. Kid goes on balance bike and the stroller helps haul water bottle, snacks, helmet, extra jacket if it looks like rain, etc.

It sounds like a lot of people with multiple children were more eager to get their older children out of the stroller earlier. That makes sense, since double strollers can be a pain and you can't push two strollers. But it's very family specific. We have an only (just turned 3) and we'll push the stroller as long as it's convenient for us. As others have said, using a stroller doesn't mean children don't walk -- ours will do stints in the stroll when he is tired or so he can eat a snack on the go, but walks probably 60-70% of the time.

I hate double strollers and my two are 22 months apart. In the beginning with no. 2, is wear her in a carrier and have older one in a stroller. When older one was about 2.5 and younger one was 8 months or so, she’d be in the stroller and he’d walk. Once younger one could walk well (around 15 months, she hated the stroller. Older one would happily still have ridden in it but no way was I letting my 3 year old rode in a stroller if we had to go at the little one’s pace. So we pretty much stopped all stroller use at that time. I’d occasionally bring one for longer walks and always regretted it.

DS is almost 6 but has a growth delay so he’s the same size as his 2.5 year old brother. The older one loves to ride with his little brother so we let him but he also walks and bikes too. We are already pushing a stroller so adding a second kid didn’t bother me and we walk several miles a day so it’s nice to let the older ride when he’s tired.

We stopped by age 4, but it was a struggle because walking/metro was part of our commute to and from daycare so they had to do a fair amount of walking in a timely manner at least twice a day.
