Yeah, we had this situation this summer... Basically don't ask and don't tell was the unspoken agreement.

You had school related services provided in the summer?

NP. The same rule applies to the private therapists you hire.

Is that true even when they're providing Telehealth services? Or services to an individual who technically still maintains a permanent address in the same state as the healthcare provider, but who's traveling out of state temporarily?

It was largely true pre-COVID (thanks largely to provider cartels that lobbied for state restrictions in licensure laws) but most of that restrictions have been waived during the pandemic. I think it’s unlikely we go back to the pre-pandemic restrictions on how we practice telehealth because they honestly just didn’t make any sense.

No, but this got brought up on a neighborhood FB group and some lady tried to make this a huge white privileged thing and said basically all parents who do this should be arrested and I’m prisoner for residency fraud. Because two wrongs make a right! Of course, she was also extremely white and extremely privileged. Love the woke social media cried s’much.

We have providers at Children's Hospital. Our therapist was not allowed to meet with my son while we were out of state. our psychiatrist was allowed to do so.

How does this work? Are y'all planning to come back when school's in person?

There are state waivers for this. Do not let this be a hurdle, discuss with your licensed provider but do not spread information that may discourage families from receiving needed telehealth services.
