Are you saying they cannot use sick leave, or FMLA, or other forms of leave? I'm not sure your wishes -- or White House voluntary calls to action -- are going to override federal FMLA legislation.

I'm also not sure you can force them to stay, if they want to quit. There isn't currently indentured servitude in this country, but I guess you could work on that.

How is this different than before? They were teaching remotely before they were “essential” and they’re teaching remotely after being declared “essential”

I'm not paranoid about covid, but this doesn't seem like a good idea.

the essential worker designation provides guidance for educators that is only voluntary, it calls on teachers to return to the classroom even after potential exposure.

Also, it doesn't mean that the state can force the teachers back to school. It just provides guidance and it's still *voluntary*.
