If you want a good resource, www.babywisemom.com. This site has been a game changer for me.
Do not listen to this poster. The only infant care advice condemned by the American Association of Pediatrics is Baby Wise. Newborns have died when parents follow it.
This poster is so very, very wrong.
The AAP warning made me look this up. Now I am very sad that people treat helpless infants this way and think it is a good Christian thing to do
I'm the PP who recommended BabyWise. Someone always pops up to say how terrible BabyWise is, and I usually let it go (different strokes and all) but I do want to clarify that the AAP has NEVER condemned Babywise or issued any kind of formal statement against it. That is not correct. Here's more info on the controversy:

Yes, it's controversial. Yes, it is not for everyone. But it literally says about 30 times to FEED YOUR BABY IF HE IS HUNGRY. A take down of that myth can be found here.
Sorry to take over the thread, but this poster specifically asked for a way to get a baby on a schedule, and Babywise is one of the few systems that encourages that from a young age, it's worked great for everyone I know who's tried it, and I wanted to at least give the OP some basic info.

7:30am - wake up
9-10am - first nap
1-3pm - second nap
6:30ishpm - bedtime
All 3 kids slept through the night 12-13 hours by the time they were 4 months old.

An infant is always responded to. Your baby is too young for a schedule.
Yes and definitely too young to self-soothe.
