I wonder if the shortages are dependent on where you do your groceries. I've never seen shortages in long grain rice, shallots, garlic, hotdogs and most items listed above. But I know that there is shortage in pizza sauce, online or in stores and for the longest time, pasta. I saw unknown pasta brands recently popping up in stores.

My neighborhood bodegas are packed with 50lb bags.

Most of the items mentioned have not come back since pandemic buying in March.

There is a shortage of aluminum cans right now. I noticed a couple of beans companies at WF switching to tetra packs already.
Tomatoes are a great shelf stable item so they go bought rout and season is just in full swing right now and it's a very labor intensive picking process with mostly visa farm workers which there are fewer of right now given closer border and covid.

I think that we're so used to having whatever we want whenever we want it that any food shortage is a weird food shortage.

Nesquick and ovaltine. I only started buying in the winter for my toddler who won’t drink plain milk, but it is frequently bare. Even the chocolate syrup sells out.

I thought Coke said they slowed the production on this because they dedicated workers/supplies to more in demand laws.

I thought it was just me! I usually get Lowry's garlic salt easily. Then I couldn't find it for a week or so which has never happened before. Found it and I bought two!

Hot dogs. Could not be found during the initial hoarding, stay at home order phase, which was understandable. Then things seemed to get back to normal in terms of stock. Now they’re all gone again, at least at the Wegman’s where I shop. We eat them some but not a ton. It’s just one of those sections that is so obvious when it’s completely empty.
