i live in PG. Currently in Hyattsville but hoping to move to Bowie in a couple of years. Great schools in Bowie.
I really get tired of the comparison of county to county. There is high crime, violence, etc in all of the metro counties. No. It is really by city/community. Not all of the schools in Montgomery and Fairfax are great schools and not all of the schools in PG are horrible.

I mean, now we are on vacation. In late August they'll be going to public school.

For those of you in PG, where do your kids go to school? Public or private?
My kids have been in both. Right now they are in public school.

I live in PG. I think it doesn't come up often on DCUM because the Mont Co school system is better so people are often more interested in that county. Or people live in DC and are dealing with life there.
No time to discuss this today. It's too hot. Gotta get to the PG Pool!

Hyattsville resident here. I love my community! There's tons to do; the people are great; the commutes to DC and Baltimore are easy; it's close to DC and MoCo; PG Pool rocks...
One kid goes to French Immersion public school; the other goes to private school.
Yay PG!

I too am a PG County resident. We live in University Park which is a wonderful neighborhood next to UMD. Tons of amenities, a close-knit community that hosts great events/parties through the year, fabulous elementary school, and lovely homes. No cookie-cutter homes here - mostly all brick colonials - each one built by different builders. Here's the town website for anyone interested in moving: www.upmd.org

I like this post because there are certain posters who believe there are "1 or 2" of us (name that location/affiliation/place of origin - no matter which) and this thread alas, disproves miss-know-it-all (who knows nothing). Cheers!

My kids go to public school in Bowie..the elementary is fine. We will probably be gone before middle and high school, and I don't think I would send them in our current district.
