Is there a specific type of trap that I need? If I go with sprinklers is one just in the general area going to work?

Also do I need to dig out some of the dirt and replace it?

I’d tell him “ok, I guess it’s a stray, so, I’ll trap it and call animal control.”

I would try a motion activated sprinkler and whenever you see the cat in your yard, blast them with a hose. I have a scarecrow and it works I just hate having to leave the water on because it leaks.

We had to deal with this. Cats can be extremely destructive to flower boxes and outdoor furniture including trampolines but also are terrible for the bird population and their own health! We told our neighbors who said the same thing: Not our cat. I then took pictures OF THEIR CAT in our yard -- bird in mouth, hunched over in our flower bed, digging in flower bed, sleeping on scratched up lawn chair. They said they would keep the cat inside. They didn't so I set the trap and would go knock on their door to return their cat. If they weren't there I would take a picture then release the cat. I did this numerous times, including multiple times a week. I finally told them that if I trapped the cat again it was going to the shelter. And it did. I told the shelter who the owners were and they were able to talk to them about how cats can't be outdoors and they surrendered it.

One cat should really only produce one or two cat poops per day, so if you're seeing more, it might be other offender(s).

About toxoplasmosis: wash hands thoroughly and you should have nothing to worry about. You should be washing thoroughly after garden work anyway, b/c I'm pretty sure there are other potential nasties in the soil.

OP, hook up your hose and spray them early and often. They will get the hint. I am talking about the cats, of course.

I agree with the camera. We replaced our back yard/back porch lights with ring camera floodlights, and if anything is in our backyard it gets activated and we get video

OP you can get a camera set up that will catch it and show your neighbor. If the behavior doesn’t stop after that, you can show your HOA board or animal control. My neighbor set his Ring camera to cover his flower beds and discovered a bunch of deer munching his flowers at 3AM. He told me they come to my house too but I never noticed.
